Two Weeks of Shooting
|
Distance to Date: 3737 km , 2317 miles
The past two weeks have been crazy. Laura and Frank flew down from California to start shooting for the documentary film about our journey. We spent time in Santiago and then over the pass to Mendoza. We are currently in Mendoza and taking it easy as we plan more schools for the blind visits.
We want to thank all of the local businesses that have supported our project! Please see Sponsors for a list of our local business supporters.
We hope to continue moving up north in a couple of days towards Bolivia, but that's still some-1500 miles away! The journey continues with Stage 1 completed and Stage 2 just beginning. Never a dull moment!

Santiago glowling.
A better look at Santiago with the Andes in the background. Argentina is just over those mountains.
Santiago at night.
Filming us as we take a stroll. Camera, watch out, we may not see you!
Shooting at the Plaza des Armes in downtown Santiago.
Christi talks with Santiago and the Andes in the background. 13th floor view courtesy of Peter and James. Thanks, guys!
We visit the local university (UMCE) where they have a program that prepares future teachers for the visually disabled. Here we pose with a Perkins Brailler -- braille typer.
The film crew having lunch at Tia Ruth's in La Vega Central.
We spoke at the Hellen Keller School and shared our project with students with varying range of visual impairments.
Trying to stay cool as the shooting continues.
La Bicicleta Verde and Vino Cousino (vineyard located in Santiago city itself) sponsored us with a wine tour.
The "fancy." Now, how do we swish the wine?
If you look close, you'll see our ghosts.
Over the Andes and into Argentina. Christi and Laura give their glam shot.
And after two weeks of shooting, we top it off with some Andes, a dark beer brewed in Mendoza. All in all, a good time!
