The Folks at IBC

Distance to Date: 6073 km, 3765 mi

We've been visiting schools and/or organizations for the blind along the way (see list in Info > Schools & Organizations We Visited). For this particular one in La Paz, Margarita filmed the whole session. Unfortunately, Christi was not feeling well that day and so she was not able to attend.

Tauru visited the Instituto Boliviano de la Ceguera (IBC), which translates to something like Bolivian Institute for Blindness. There, Tauru got to know the individuals and their stories. About half were completely blind and the other half were partially blind.

The video is 13:27 long, and it's well worth it! It was hard to cut things out. The emotions and atmosphere of being in such a group really moved Tauru. Saying goodbye was the hardest part of the meeting. One lady said to him, "Nos vimos (we see each other again)." We hope so!

Special thanks for Margarita Palacios for arranging the meeting and videoing, Kevin Bauer for translating, and Ariel Conitzer for translating, helping Tauru bring the bike to the institute and helping some of the folks ride the tandem.

Disclaimer: Tauru's Spanish is limited, but he tries anyway. Watch the video to enjoy the experience of being with the folks at IBC.
