Sunrise...

Climbers are sure to be on her at this very moment.

Tauru still dreams of wanting to come back to do some climbing.

Work begins. After stamping out of Argentina, we start hauling the bike and our gear on a single track hiking trail over a mountain pass.

And this is how the derailleur hanger probably broke. It must have caught a root as Tauru plowed through.

Christi ferries a load up the mountain. This is the only way to get to the Chilean border in this area.

Still plowing through. What else will break?

Rain has gutted this part of the trail.

And then we come to the first among many bridges. This one is perhaps one of the better ones.

Tauru checks it out to see how stable it is.

Christi doesn't trust it, so she crawls across it.

Tauru starts ferrying things across.

The bike comes, too.

1 km later ...VICTORY!!

A break and Fitz Roy in the distance.

But there's more to go. Another 6 km of trail.

The derailleur hangs for the time being.

After 7 and a half hours, we pass through the single track hiking trail. There is now 15 km of bad dirt and gravel road. We decided to camp next to a stream for the night.

Tauru puts the bike on a single gear since we can't use the derailleur.

At least the trail gets better.

We push the bike through bushes and patches of mud and puddles.

About 160 lbs of bike and gear through a hiking trail.

Out of Argentina.

100 feet later, into Chile.

The road is too muddy and filled with loose rocks. We walk the bike, try to ride it, but ultimately Tauru pushes and rides it by himself while Christi runs alongside the most of the 15 km.
